BIO
Ro is a Chicago-born, Nashville-based singer/songwriter/spoken-word artist whose manner is unapologetic as she delivers thought-provoking topics. Her music style is a melting pot of Hip-Hop, Spoken-Word, Jazz and R&B. A commanding artist and vocalist, Ro aims to use her voice to promote positivity and encourage community.
Ro has been singing since the age of 6, from gospel choirs to theater. In 2013, she located to Nashville, and began writing/performing Spoken-Word at Tennessee State University winning various talent shows and poetry slams. Her songwriting journey began shortly after, creating remixes and being featured on several songs of Nashville music artists.
Ro is the 2016 winner of Most Creative Artist for Interdenominational Ministers Fellowship’s 1st Annual MLK Day Spoken Word Contest. In 2020, Ro showcased her conscious upbeat flavor with debut single, “Name Brand,” produced by Nashville-based producer/artist, Brian Nathan.
Ro’s musical style is similar to the likings of Lauryn Hill, Tank & the Bangas, Jill Scott and more. Her creative works are fueled by her passion to invoke feeling through melodic messages and words.
